How to Enable the Root User Ubuntu 11.10

To maintain security in Ubuntu, by default user ROOT is not enabled. But the user can be activated at any time we want. Do you really want to enable the root user in Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot)?

But before doing this, you should consider again to enable the root user. Because if the user is active and is taken by someone else, of course, would be disastrous for you. In fact in the conduct of the administration did not have to root. Just simply "sudo" alone has the right to access as root.

One the other hand, if you are already logged in as root, then a small error can ruin the entire system. That is why, the root account is disabled by default on most Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, and so it is not recommended to activate or use it.

If you want to try simply typing the command:

sudo passwd root

Then enter the new password. And repeat again writing new passwords.
