A few days ago came the ubuntu installer version 2.0 of an application to install a version of Ubuntu on devices with Android OS 2.1 or higher.
The application is an installer that fits in the LXDE desktop, this is actually divided into two lightweight application and other heavier hence the larger is more complete than the light coming even with Ubuntu software center called Update Manager.
This version is fully optimized for ARM devices, lets you run the two systems simultaneously and even set the screen size to start to match the type of device.
The requirements for running it are:
. - Have Root Permissions
. - 1 GHz processor (recommended)
. - Android 2.1 and up
. - Kernel will loop device support (this is included in most ROM's)
. - SD card with at least 3.5 GB of free space for the large image (2.5 GB for the small picture)
. - Data Connection
. - Support for EXT2
If you are interested in trying this installer, can find it in the Android Market, we will see a paid version with some extra features, but the free have what it takes. The images of Ubuntu, we can download xdadevelopers forum where we can also find more extensive information.
As a finale, I leave a video where you can see it working once installed.
